Kolomna is a city in Moscow region, Russia, located at the confluence of the Moskva and Oka Rivers, 100 km from Moscow. It has a population of about 140,000. Founded in the 12th century, it was first mentioned in chronicles in 1177. Historically, it was a key trading and military center of the Ryazan Principality, later part of Moscow’s domain. The city is famous for the Kolomna Kremlin (14th–16th centuries), the Assumption Cathedral, and ancient monasteries. It preserves historic merchant houses and a tram network. Kolomna is known for its pastila (fruit confectionery) and kalach bread. Today, it’s a tourist destination with museums, festivals, and scenic views.
