Portugal

Part I: Lisbon

Lisbon is the capital of Portugal and one of the oldest cities in Western Europe, where centuries-old history and modern life intertwine harmoniously. Lisbon was founded over 3,000 years ago and became the capital in 1255, after liberation from the Moors. The city survived the devastating earthquake of 1755, after which it was rebuilt in the Baroque style and enlightened absolutism. Located on the banks of the Tagus River and the Atlantic Ocean, it welcomes visitors with its mild climate, colorful streets, and unique atmosphere.
